Understanding Workgroups

A workgroup is the fundamental organizational unit in the Agentic AI platform. It represents either a single-agent system or a collaborative multi-agent system designed to accomplish specific tasks or solve complex problems.

When creating a workgroup, you have two architectural options:

  • Single-Agent System: A standalone agent that independently handles tasks and workflows. This is ideal for focused, well-defined operations that don't require collaboration between multiple specialized agents.

  • Multi-Agent Workgroup: A collaborative system consisting of multiple specialized agents working together. In a multi-agent workgroup, one agent must be designated as the supervisor, and this supervisor agent must be at the root or start of the multi-agent system. The supervisor agent orchestrates the workflow, delegates tasks to worker agents, and coordinates their activities to achieve the workgroup's objectives. Important: The root of a multi-agent system cannot be a worker agent or a list of worker nodes, it must always be a supervisor agent. This hierarchical structure ensures clear task coordination and efficient problem-solving across complex workflows.

The choice between a single-agent system and a multi-agent workgroup depends on the complexity of your use case and the need for specialized agent roles within your workflow.

  • File Processing: Document and file processing capabilities

Agent Consumption

Agents created in the Agentic AI platform are designed to be consumed through the organization's workflow systems:

  • RAPFlow Integration: Once an agent is created, it can be integrated into RAPFlow workflows using the agent workgroup block. Users can add this block to their flow editor, and clicking the block opens a configuration screen where they can select which agent workgroup they want to consume in the flow. Once the agent workgroup is selected, any dynamic variables defined in the workgroup will be automatically populated for configuration.
  • RAPBot Integration: Agents can be utilized within RAPBot flows using the agent workgroup block. The flow editor provides the same configuration interface where users can select and configure their desired agent workgroup for conversational AI capabilities. Once the agent workgroup is selected, any dynamic variables defined in the workgroup will be automatically populated for configuration.
  • Organization-Specific Access: Agents are scoped to the particular organization that created them, ensuring secure and isolated usage
